What is Biological Warfare?

Is the Use of Bioweapons Illegal?

In short, the use of bioweapons is banned in most countries due to international treaties. However, the use of bioweapons is technically legal due to a lack of legislation.

How Dangerous Are Biological Weapons?

Biological weapons in the past century have killed roughly 500 million people, making them extremely lethal. Biological agents are more dangerous in the modern age as advancements in genetics and technology provide the perfect opportunity for the creation of agents that are resistant to modern medicine. Countries all over the world and even the U.N have implemented legislature to minimize the possibility of an epidemic or pandemic. The threat of biological agents is dependent on many factors with first world countries facing a low risk while third world countries face higher risks. However, it is difficult to gauge how dangerous they are as there has never been a full out war with biological weapons.

Biological warfare involves the use of pathogens and other harmful biological substances that have been biologically engineered to purposefully kill people. Biological warfare can be subtle as deadly microbes/toxins can be introduced into the food or water supply and even sprayed over a large portion of land with the aid of aircraft. The potency of each biological agent is different, however, the ability for the agent to spread can make it capable of killing exponentially.

Are zombies real?

While the term "zombie" varies from person to person, the possession of organisms by other organisms is possible. Cordyceps, type fungus, are capable of controlling deceased ants. Parasites have been known to also demonstrate similar behavior, but scientists believe that an advanced species is capable of controlling humans (maybe not the brain-eating zombie).

What Are Biological Agents?

Pathogens are one such example of biological agents. Pathogens are microscopic and may be a virus, bacteria, parasite, fungus, protozoan or any other microbe which can cause disease. Biological toxins are a poisonous substance that is created by living organisms which ultimately damage or kill another organism. Biological toxins may degrade muscle tissue, affect the nervous system and clot blood.
